Ric Nelson
Ric Nelson is a bass player who prides himself in the ability to play any music genre. Ric has been playing in bands for over 25 years. In 1979, he played with "The Presence", an all original rock/punk band. Then in 1982 thru 1984, Ric brought out a little country twang with "Bootleg", a country/rock, cover band. From 1984 thru 1988 he covered oldies with "Nastalgia" and then rocked out from 1990 thru 1994 wtih "The Johnny Michaels Band", a cover/original,classic rock band. Ric went back to oldies style in 1999 thru 2000 with "The Cruisers" and then in 2000 thru 2003 with "Dickiefitz" an oldies, rock and roll cover band. He then did a 180 degree turn around in 2002 thru 2003 when he played with "Munch" a hard rock/alternative rock, cover band. In 2004 you could find Ric playing with the "Michael Ship Excursion" an all original blues rock band. In 2004 thru 2006, he rocked out with "Copperhead" a classic rock, cover band. Also in 2005 to 2006 he played with "Octavia and The Earthblood Blues Band", a blues cover/original band. (Ric still fills in with Octavia when his schedule permits.) Ric has also collaborated with the grind core band "Hog Caller". He joined "Flashpoint" , a variety band, in October 2006.There he met Flashpoint's singer, Sierra Kameron who, as it turns out, shares his passion for jazz and blues. They play out as a side project when they can breakaway from Flashpoint's hectic schedule. Ric's goal for the near future is to start studying the stand up bass, just for the challenge and personal satisfaction of doing so. Now Ric is in Mustang, and he's loving every minute of it.
